3. Improving the Corrosion Resistance and High Temperature Oxidation Resistance of Parts
For example, nitriding can improve the atmospheric corrosion resistance of steel parts; after aluminizing, chromizing and siliconizing, dense and stable protective films of Al2O3, Cr2O3 and SiO 2 are formed by interaction with oxygen or corrosion medium, which can improve the corrosion resistance and high temperature oxidation resistance. Usually, the hardening of steel will bring about embrittlement at the same time. When the surface hardening method is used to improve the surface hardness, the core is still in a good toughness state, so it can better solve the contradiction between hardening and toughness of steel parts than the whole hardening method of parts. Chemical heat treatment makes the chemical composition and structure of steel surface change at the same time, so it is better than surface quenching and hardening methods such as high, medium frequency induction and flame quenching.
